The Long And Winding Road....

Sorry but I am going to have to bore you with yet another cliff walk, but they are such superb walks I just cant help it.

Most of the sheep are now shorn.

Elaine trying to make friends with the lambs.

You cant really tell from the pic but this silly bugger was right on the edge of the cliff!

We only intended a little stroll....

.....But got a bit carried away and ended up walking about five miles!

Elaine and Bombo got rather tired....actually totally knackered to the point of wanting to kill me, but I had a cunning plan!

I knew that a bus ran along the coastal road, and you just hail it to stop it, a bit like the train the other day.

So if we cut inland we must find the coast road and the aforementioned omnibus.

After heading inland for a while we came across a field of angry bulls blocking out path so we had to retreat back to the path.

I took the pics with the zoom lens so Elaine couldn't throttle me!

Back on the cliff path, we walked for another mile or so.......

Until we found another path heading inland, we followed that to the coast road and it came out dead opposite a.......PUB.

We stopped for a few beers for medicinal purposes plus had some lunch. The landlord gave us the bus timetable, the next bus was in three hours!!!
I said it would be quicker to walk......just,
After removing Elaine's boot from my bum we headed off back to base but on the road rather than the meandering cliff walk, we were back in no time at all....well quicker than the bus!

We didn't do too much for the remainder of the day except doze and read.

This evening I packed all the gear away as we are leaving in the morning, we will head towards Bath way and stop in a pub carpark somewhere along the way, I will check out the Britstop book later.

I cant recommend this part of the world and this site enough, if you want world class scenery and walks, a very quiet site with a max of four vans, this is it.

Cliff Walk

First up this morning I took the dogs for a walk down to the local village called  Trefin, there wasn't  a lot there apart from a pub and a cafe.

It was a cracking warm day and the dogs were buggered by the time we got back to the site.

The pic below id the entrance to the site, apparently after talking to the other campers here we have found a gem of a site, they have been coming here for years mainly for the fantastic views from the site. As I said yesterday only 5 motorhomes or caravans are allowed at any one time, we can highly recommend staying here.

I zoomed in with the camera to get a shot of the ferry leaving Fishguard heading for Ireland.

I gave the van a quick wash then it was time to get the awning out and catch a few rays. the awning was to stop the doggies getting too hot.

In the early evening we went for a walk along the cliff path.

Apparently this little holiday cottage is rented out all through the year, it certainly has a great position.

Once again stunning views along the track.

I wonder if the sheep appreciate their location.

We walked for a couple of miles....

......Before retracing our steps back to base.

How to Hold Up A Train and Other Adventures!

Yesterday (Tuesday) we decided to catch the train to Aberdovey, which is a little village just south of our site.

Firstly we had a swim in our private pool!!

This is the building it is housed in ...

It's a lovely, heated pool and as there is no one on the site staying in the guest house so we have it to ourselves!

The main guest house is over the road from the campsite and the pool ...

There is our van ... Nigel No Friends!  All our neighbours left - I think the weather drove them away!  The building on the right is the potting shed ...

The railway station is about a 15 minute walk down a country lane.  There used to be an army camp here, which closed in 1966 but was reopened in 1972 to house 3,000 Ugandan Asians booted out by Idi Amin. Most of the buildings have long since gone and the road around the camp is now the motorcycle track.

So the station is now in the middle of nowhere ... when you want the train to stop you have to hail it like a cab!

It stopped and away we went ...

Nice little place, Aberdovey.  We had a quick look around before heading back, the weather was deteriorating rapidly!

Today (Wednesday) we left north Wales and headed down to a little site called Longhouse, which is located in Pembrokeshire a few miles south of Fishguard.  The drive was pretty good with a few hair raising moments on some of the country lanes, but it's all good fun.

The new site is once again a Caravan Club CL site like the last.  We like these sites - they are very small with only 5 pitches and have the basic 240v hookup, water and a place to dump the nasties. Some have showers etc, but with a shower onboard we don't really need them.  To us the main requirements are 240, water and a waste dump.  These smaller sites are pretty cheap - the last one and this one are £12.00 a night, which is steep by narrowboat standards but free places for motorhomes in the UK are few and far between.  It is a different story once you cross the channel, where they are much more welcoming to motorhomes.

So this our view through the front screen today ...

Very nice spot ...

We went for a walk to the closest village (Abercastle), which was just a short walk across the fields in front of the van.

We passed some of the friendly locals ...

The views were super ...

Bombo looking down on Abercastle ...

We walked down to the little bay ...

Loved this house ...

Then we walked back to base ...

This is in the field opposite the site, which just happens to house a 5000 year old burial chamber!

I think we are going to enjoy a few days here.  The weather was lovely today and as an added bonus we have a good internet and phone signal, something that was severely lacking at the last stop!

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

This post was going to be a big rant about the absolutely awful weather we are having here in Wales. It has been pissing down all day, we have the heater on as its cold and I cant put up the satellite to watch the box as I'm afraid it will get blown off the roof!

However after taking the boys for a walk through the rain soaked grounds of the local manor house and then crashing in the back of the van reading I had a big rethink of how lucky we are rather than feeling sorry for ourselves.

Wales is very grim place weather wise make no mistake, and for some poor buggers this is their annual holiday.
However we have been on holidays for the last three years and four months and its still happening, we have traveled all over the UK and mainland Europe and have had the most fantastic time, on a boat, in two motorhomes, living in a lovely little village for six months and living two months in magical Mojacar (Spain). We have been together 24/7 since leaving Oz and are loving every minute! We do have an ongoing problem but are not dwelling on it or letting it change out plans.

Life is good, we have huge plans, we are making the most of every day so a bit of rain really doesn't matter does it??

It could be a lot worse......We could be living in Wales!!!......Joke OK!

Race Fest.

So the plan for today was for me to stroll down the country lane to check out the bike racing, we heard them practicing from 09.00, the actual racing was due to start at noon.

This was our view from the van at noon!!!

Plan B swung into action.....feet up in the rear cabin and watch the F1 from Silverstone. it was a great race with a super result.

After the race had finished the rain had also stopped, you could actually see part of the track from our van.

I went down to the races and watched some cracking racing on all types of bikes.

Vintage bikes

The guest of honour at the meet was a Mr John Mcguiness, winner of 21 Isle of Man TT races including the 2015 senior TT.

A very nice MV Agusta.

John Mcguiness racing a Honda Grand Prix bike.

It is a lovely little track built on an old army base.

There were 21 races in all, I watched probably 12 of them.

The racing finished in glorious sunshine.

After the racing I went back to base, picked up Elaine and the boys and we went for a walk down to the beach.

Deserted beach, sunshine....perfect.

The sun is shining we are all happy....

Will it last??
