I found out my nephew was celebrating his 14th birthday at Billing Aquadrome on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and most of the Macey family were attending and camping over the weekend.
So, Brother Russell picked us up on Saturday morning, it was only about 25mins by car.
Sister Lynne had already set up camp with her caravan, plus annexe and a gazebo for the barbie.
Our first task was to put up the tent.....

Elaine and I went for a walk around the Aquadrome, the place is massive! I can remember going there as a kid in the 60s - it is certainly looking a bit run down these days, the toilet blocks look like they arestraight out of Stalag Luft III !
We fed some ducks so we didn't get homesick for the boat ...
Once again Saturday was hot so we didn't start playing rounders (The Americans call it baseball) 'til quite late...
We stayed up late on Saturday night, Russell brought along his telescope (as you do when you go camping) and we did some stargazing; it was a really clear night, hence it was also bloody freezing!
We were sharing a 3 bedroom tent with Tracy and Russell and we snuggled up in 'our bedroom' (with the dogs in between us!) and in the double sleeping bag, so it wasn't too bad. During the night we were woken by what sounded like gunfire - it was probably a bird scarer but the banging was erratic. No-one said anything whilst it was going on but the next morning everyone had the same thoughts whilst it was going on - as in, if we hear any screaming we are out of here....scary or what!
Funny thing was Saturday the police helicopter, was flying around just above the campsite, so I was thinking whoever they were looking for had gone on the rampage.......I think we will stick with the bird scarer though!
Once the sun started to come up Sunday morning the tent soon became unbearably hot, so we spent the day relaxing in the sunshine with the family. The air ambulance landed close by, probably came to treat the victims of last nights massacre...
We did have some more fun pulling down the tent though - it was pretty windy by then, so we nearly took off a few times and then Russell had us in stitches with his 'rolling over' the collapsed tent to get the air out !!
Russell and Tracy ferried us back to the boat in the late afternoon so we went across to the Boathouse for Sunday Dinner.
So that was it, the end to a fantastic weekend. One of the reasons we came back to the UK was to be close to our families again - this weekend proved again we made the right decision, just magic.
It's now Monday evening, and my mother is arriving soon for a 2 week visit :)
Good Luck!
