Our boaty friends had moored for the night at Somerton, so Elaine the dogs and myself walked from Aynho to meet them and cadge a lift back.
Once again it was a lovely warm day for walking the towpath ...
We reached Somerton as our convoy came into view. Elaine and Bombo jumped aboard NB Ferndale, whilst Sammie and I jumped onto NB Festina Lente ...
Andy kindly gave me the tiller whilst Sue sat on the bed stroking Sammie - as the poor little man has been a bit crook for the last couple of days.
First stop was Somerton Deep Lock. It was like Piccadilly Circus with boats everywhere.
I haven't taken one of these pics for a while ...
Meanwhile onboard NB Ferndale, Bombo quickly assumed his position ...
It was a very pleasant little trip - and it was good to be on the tiller again.
Luckily all three boats got good moorings in Aynho.
The next part of the plan didn't go so well when the Great Western Pub said that they were fully booked out for lunch and dinner! The girls weren't having it and went back to the pub to see if they could sort something out ... and voila, we had our own private dining area in a barn at the rear of the garden ...
Apart from the usual suspects our lunch crew also included Linda and Richard from NB Mary H ... it was great to catch up with them at long last!
I would have to say that the Sunday Roast at The Great Western Arms was absolute top shelf, the desserts were right up there as well. Along with terrific company it was a most enjoyable arvo.
The 'sistas' were radiating happiness ...
After lunch we retired back to the motorhome for tea, coffee, biscuits, wine and beer ...
Another wonderful day!
