First up well done the Aussies who thrashed England last night in the Rugby World Cup, was there ever any doubt!
After the game and a bit of a drink I took the dogs for a late night walk around the site. It was amazing so many people were still up chatting and laughing. The night before I went walking the dogs at 01.30 and it was the same. The reason for this is that this site is predominantly full of Spanish which, although we are in Spain, is quite unusual. There are very few foreigners here! The Spanish love to eat late and stay up late at night, it is a really great party/family atmosphere. Back in Oz 20.30 is bedtime for a lot of people! There are also a lot of Spanish caravans here that appear to have been here for the whole of summer. I'm guessing that a lot of the owners live in Barcelona and this is the place they come for weekends etc.
The site shuts in a few days for the winter, so today a lot of the Spanish vans are being packed up ready to be taken home or put in storage.
We decided to catch the bus into the centre of Tarragona today to check it out. Unfortunately the dogs were not allowed on the bus so we took them for a walk along the beach to tire them out ... that way they sleep in the van with no problems whilst we are away for a few hours.
Bombo was happy with the plan ...
It's world animal day today so Elaine celebrated it by beating Bombo with a big stick!!
Look how she frightens him....poor puppy!
The centre is a 15 minute and 1.45 Euro ride away, which relates to very cheap!
When we got off the bus, the driver honked his horn and called us to the front of the bus to show us where to catch it on the way back to the site....what a lovely chap.
We went walkabout in the historical part of the city and what a fab place it was.
The Catalonian flags are flying everywhere ...
We just love exploring these places, they are just big enough. We are not too keen on the big cities.
Bits of Roman ruins lie all over the city ...
The Cathederal sits in the middle of the old part of the city ...
The restaurants were full of Spanish families enjoying their Sunday long lunch ...
We had also had a nice lunch in a little bar, none of your Weatherspoons Sunday roast here!
What can I say? More lovely buildings ...
And more Roman ruins ...
Loads of little alleys to explore ...
Nice mural ...
Roman cats ...
We had a great day out exploring. We can recommend having a look around Tarragona if you are ever down this way.
We will move on tomorrow, I had better get the map out and make a plan!
