After a big night we were up at a reasonable hour! The first stop was the Stone markets for some supplies.
We decided last night that we would head south to Great Heywood with Diane and Ray, from NB Ferndale, then rendezvous on Sunday with Dot and Gordon, from NB Ewn Ha Cul, and Roly and Bev, from NB Klara.
Before we cast off NB Yarwood cruised past, see ya later guys ...
We chucked a u-ey in the Stone winding hole and headed south ...
Passing Roly and Bev on NB Klara ...
Into the first lock of the day, Aston Lock ...
Next was Sandon ...
Sammy stuck his head of the sidehatch to check on the weather ...
Then it was time for the big moment ... Diane was going to take NB Ferndale through the lock single handed!!
In she comes ...
It's going well ...
Hauling the boat out of the lock ...
Shutting the gates ...
Back in control of the boat ...
Woohoo 10/10 !! Ray was so impressed he is going to buy her an I something .... pad I think! Not bad for 15 mins work!
Ferndale follows us through a very ornate bridge ...
We then got attacked by a psycho swan!
After he had eaten half of our boat he headed back to eat Ferndale ...
It was nice to be out in the sticks for a change ...
The Heron was spying on the fish...
Whilst Sammy eyed up the Heron ...
After a five hour cruise we pulled up for the day at Tixall Wide. Here is the view from the sidehatch ...
The boats all secured we headed off to the pub!
Walking past the Packhorse bridge, linking Shugborough Hall to Great Haywood, it was built in 1550!!
Excellent day, excellent company.
As I said on their blog... Women on the tiller rule!!!
