It was a much more pleasant day today, the wind had dropped right down and it was still nice and warm.
We went for a stroll down the beach before we left Carnon plage.
Bombo was chasing sticks, or......
....Shells!
I sat with Sammie on the beach in front of one of the lovely unit blocks!!! (Sammie doesn't share Bombo's love of beaches) ...
This was last night's Aire, it was very quiet and had the bonus of 240 hook up ...
Once we got moving Sammie soon got bored of map reading and had a kip ...
Some nasty French people in here ...
We passed through Sete. Parts of it looked really nice but it is a real hard place to find somewhere to park! If there is a spot it is usually because there are undesirables hanging around ... French pikeys!
We stopped for a smoko at Narbonne Plage ...
It looked like quite a nice town, but like most places we come across now everything is closing for the season, which feels a bit sad!
This afternoon we ended up at an Aire right on the beach at Gruissan ...
Here we be ...
The beach is very pleasant. The sign says no dogs, so like the good citizens we are we ignore it ...
The houses are mostly holiday houses built on stilts, presumably because of flooding during storms and very high tides.
They reminded us of Australian houses that are built on stilts in similar flood prone areas ...
We have decided that tomorrow we are going to head back inland for a few days, hopefully to find some quirky French towns and villages!
From Perpignan there's a nice run into Spain via Andorra, the Pyrenees are spectacular :) If you go that way call in to Prades, you're too late for the music festival week now though (end of August) and Villefranche-de-Conflent is worth a look too, you might even want to take a trip on le Petit train jaune. So much to do and see, enjoy:)
