Im leaving on a Jet Pl.............

Well in a Jaguar actually, so rather than a couple of hours to get back to the  UK by a Jet Plane it will be 4 days in a car!!  She has been polished to within a inch of her life, she's been serviced and new cambelts fitted, but to be honest I reckon the the 2003 Citroen C3 is probably a lot more reliable.

Everything has been packed on board apart from one small case with overnight gear plus the dog bag and esky with grub and drinks to keep me going.  I will also take my ipod with thousands of songs on it plus some cd's. I love loud music when Im driving.

The dog beds have been made up on the back seat, they have harnesses that clip into the seat belt anchorages, I have to look after the precious boys.

I have booked a hotel in Zaragoza for Sunday night, Monday night I will stay with friends who I met a few years ago whilst moored up by the Italian lakes. They are looking after a French farmhouse for the next few months/years, it will be nice to see them and their new doggies. Tuesday night I will stay in a hotel in Rouen. Wednesday it will be a drive to Calais, through the tunnel then a quick catch up with Elaines sister in Maidstone. I will then carry on through to the land of many roundabouts Milton Keynes.

Of course I wont be with my co-pilot Elaine, but im sure she will be looking over me and the boys and keep us safe.

Other Happenings

I went and bought a scooter the other day, the local Europcar hire place had been told that they can no longer hire out scooters in Mojacar so they were selling them off, it was a bargain, low kms, fully serviced, a couple of scuffs but other than that immaculate. It came with two helmets plus a top box and disc lock.  Its brilliant for shopping and going to the beach, an unbelievable amount of storage, its a 125cc and is quite nippy. I will let guests use it when they come to stay.

I have advertised the motorbike and had a couple of good leads but as I'm off to the UK this weekend it didnt leave me enough time to sort out the endless paperwork. I will re advertise it when I get back.

Im going to miss Mojacar and my lovely friends here, but in saying that most of my good friends are all back in the UK for summer, by the time I get back here they will be coming back also.

I will especially miss this young lady,  Eva is incredibly wise beyond her years and is always there for me when I hit a dark point in my life which thankfully are getting less frequent and only last for a day or two.

Peace xx

Not A Lot To Report

I haven't done a post for a while as to be quite honest nothing much has happened.

The weather is unbelievable, every day just hot sun and no wind, the beaches are getting a bit more crowded, but there is still loads of room.

Sunday arvo its drinks and music at Lua with the girls, Richard is gay so is happy to be one of the girls.

Most afternoons I go to the Samoa surf beach bar for a relax, swim and an ice cold drink, the sand is far too hot for the doggies so they stay at home.

The other morning I was up before 07.00so I took a pic of the sunrise from the villa.

The moon was still up as well.

My closest neighbour has had his pool re tiled, I'm not sure which football team he supports.

I took the motorbike for a spin, I went up to the village, there are nice views of the campo from here, the green has all but gone now, we havent seen rain for months.

I also went up the dirt road to check out some of the more remote beaches.

The reason I was up early on Tuesday was because I had to go to the main Jaguar dealer in Almeria to pick up a new key and to get it programmed, it cost an absolute fortune but was still a lot cheaper than an aftermarket one in the uk! It was just a bit too scary to have only one key especially as I will be driving back to the UK shortly.

Im looking forward to the trip, at least it will give me something to blog about.

Peace x

Hot Painting!

I have been meaning to tart up the villa for ages. As I now have no guests coming and am returning to the UK in July I thought I better get cracking.
What a mistake, I virtually got sunstroke it was so hot, plus the heat reflecting off the walls made it even hotter, the bloody paint was virtually drying on the roller.  I did manage to remove the crumbling paint work and plaster and did numerous spot repairs. The outside is now looking much better and I will finish it off when it cools down again, which will be in November!

Before.

 After.

Externally I can only get at the front of the villa, as it sits on the side of a cliff and drops down three levels, the only way to paint the backside would be by scaffolding or abseiling off of the roof .

As it was too hot to do the outside I attacked one of the decks that is in the shade for most of the day. Its so much whiter now.  Its brilliant when you go to the paint shop to buy the paint, there is one colour, Mojacar white!

Much better.

Painting and cleaning up out of the way I thought I would go down to one of my favourite beach bars.

Its called Samoa Surf and is run by a lovely Dutch couple that have lived in Mojacar for over thirty years!

They keep three containers up on their campo property, they bring them to the beach at the end of May and take them away at the end of September.

I took this pic of them setting it up last week, its blurry because of the heat haze, I took the pic from the roof of the villa.

And here is the finished article.

The lovely Anika.

I crashed out on a sunbed, and had a few beers and a chat with some locals, the sunbed costs 4 euros for a day and that includes the first beer, have I mentioned how cheap Spain is?

Local wildlife.

You also get a nice view of the Hotel Best Indalo in the distance!
