The Long Lunch

Our only plan for today was to meet up with fellow bloggers, Peter and Margaret from NB Kelly Louise fame.

We have been communicating since we first started our blog back in 2011 and nearly met up with Peter and Margaret when they were on the Oriana world cruise back in February 2012.  They had moored up in Sydney but we were in the middle of mad packing getting ready to go to the UK at the time, so couldn't make it to see them.

They now own a motorhome as well as a narrowboat so we were going to have plenty to chat about.  They are presently staying in a unit near Almeria, which is about an hour's drive away.

The plan was to meet at Tito's Chiringuito at noon.

Well chat we did and had the most fantastic lunch and catch up.

There was no slowdown in the chat ... we covered every subject on the narrowboating and motorhoming spectrum and never mentioned toilets once!

Sammy had no problems being fussed ...

It turned out to be a very long lunch ... we called it quits six and a half hours later!!!!

The food and drink was superb and all at very reasonable prices ....

Thanks for coming to see us guys.  It was so good to meet you at long last ... hopefully we will do it all again one day!

Magical Mojacar

Elaine took this picture from the motorhome this morning ... she didn't sleep well because the noise of the waves kept her awake!

As I mentioned yesterday you can drive along the beach as long as you keep to the hard stuff.  We spotted this chap up the other end of the beach this morning ... gone off line and was well and truly bogged!

First stop of the day was Mojacar, a very nice little town indeed ...

It was however very windy ...

Very liveable place, a lots of poms about, it seemed a very popular town for the ex pats ...

As we were driving out of Mojacar we were a few cars behind this school bus.  It had a police escort and everytime the bus stopped to drop off the little darlings the cop got out and held up the traffic to let them cross the road!

Off we went heading north up the coast road, once again staying off the motorways. I am still struggling with the total lack of traffic. Not complaining mind you!

Only one big mountain pass today.  We stopped at the top at a lookout for lunch.

The views were superb ...

The wind had completely dropped and it was oh-so-quiet, you could hear a pin drop ...

We stopped up there for about an hour and not one car passed ...

Eventually a German motorhome pulled up, but when they spotted that we had reserved the sun loungers by putting towels over them they carried on!!

We caried on till we came to a nice little village called Mazarron.  It had a campsite right on the beach so we decided to stay for a couple of days and just chill ...

It is a big site but well laid out and very nicely landscaped. Seems to be mostly Dutch, French and Germans here with a few poms ...

Tonight we went to a nice little restaurant and had a real good pig out.

Tomorrow is going to be a get the bikes out day.

Here we are on the Hi-Tech map ...
