Wild Camping!

What a great little spot our wild camping site was on the cliff top between Redcar and Marske By The Sea.
Most of the motorhomers were from the Yorkshire and Newcastle area and go there to spend a few days every now and again.
It was a lovely morning to take the dogs on the beach.

I actually went for a run with Sammie.

Bombo was in his element fetching sticks.

We then set off northwards via a visit to Middlesbrough.
We lived with my cousins in the Boro for a short time so I went and checked out their old house....It had been demolished, all that was left was grass!

We then went and checked out an old favourite, the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge, we travelled across the bridge many times when we lived Up North in the 60s, we even used to walk across the top.
Unfortunately we couldn't travel across it as it is undergoing major repairs.

The bridge also featured in a series of the excellent Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

Next stop on the tour was Seahouses.

Not a lot to say about Seahouses apart from it was a bit of a dump!

We carried on Northwards until we came upon Bamburgh, now this is more like it, by now it was getting on so we looked for a place to moor up. We found a great spot next to the beach and this is the view out of the front windscreen.

Bamburgh was also home to Grace Darling the heroine who rescued shipwrecked sailors in 1838 on the Farne Islands.

She lived on the lighthouse, but died in this house.

Its a delightful little village dominated by the impressive castle.

We had a few drinks in the very dog friendly bar, there were six dogs in this small bar.

Then some sheep walked past.......

Early evening we headed back to our wild camping spot.

We get a few comments you should have gone to...blah blah blah, but by the time we get them them we have moved on on.

So we are heading up towards Scotland so any suggestions...we like nice scenery and interesting town's and villages, we like looking at the outside of old castles etc but are not interested in checking out the inside if that makes sense.

  1. Mallaig, Western Highlands, turn left at Fort William. Stunning scenery, quaint fishing village at the end of 40 miles of single track road, with lovely deserted beaches on the way. And a steam railway too boot. Well worth a visit. Can also get the ferry to the islands from there too.

  2. Scotland - west coast around Kyle of Lochalsh is beautiful, look for Eilean Donan castle which is famous and recognisable.
On the east coast you can see dolphins around the Moray Firth.
Most of Scotland is stunning except a few towns, we love it!
