Meeting Old Friends at Ironbridge

We arranged to meet some friends today at Ironbridge.  Why Ironbridge you ask, well as they are staying at Ludlow and we are in Stone, its about halfway between the two - and it looked quite nice on the internet !

As we were about 15mins early we took a couple of pics of the Iron bridge which spans the river Severn, It is the first bridge to be fabricated from cast iron and one of few to survive to the present day.

It is a most spectacular bridge as is the town and surrounding scenery.

Just Lovely

We arranged to meet in the centre of the bridge at noon, first to arrive was Lesley ...

Followed by Martin, who had been parking the motor ...

We meet again dear friends.....I first met Martin and Lesley in the early '80s in Sydney whilst they were on a working holiday from the UK. They later emigrated to Sydney and we have stayed friends ever since  They now live in Byron Bay, which in my humble opinion is without a doubt the most desirable place to live in Oz.

We had a magic day just wandering around and catching up ...

whilst taking in the views ...

Lovely shot by the River Severn but can you see what is in the background....

What the ......

Martin and I sorted out the world's problems as we strolled ...

Another pic of the lovely bridge ...

We had a great day catching up and exploring Ironbridge.  (Of course, we did also call into a pub for lunch and later into a coffee shop for tea and cake)!  Martin and Lesley head back to Oz next Monday after being in Europe for the last 5 weeks.

The new/old car went very well, although there is some strange gremlin when you first engage drive (it is an automatic) ... it only lasts for a few seconds then the car performs faultlessly.

We are now back on the boat, the fire is lit and its all very cosy - in actual fact it gets a bit too hot and we have to start opening windows to cool down ... it's probably not really cold enough yet!  The boat is obviously very well insulated and really holds in the heat, roll on -10c!

Early start tomorrow as El is off to the hairdressers and  I will start giving the boat a good polish ready for the winter.
