Euro Adventure Mark 2

Our latest Euro adventure has started!  Before I get to that though I should back track to yesterday, when we had another very relaxing day, followed by a lovely chinky takeaway at night!  Many thanks to Elaine's sister and hubby for allowing us to abuse use their house.

Earlier in the day we went for a walk to the park with the dogs ... on the way there I spotted this absolute mint Rover 2000.  It was such a lovely car, even Elaine liked it ...

We were up at the Ungodly hour of 04.30 this morning and we were packed up and out of the door at 05.20!  Sammie was keen to stay in bed though ...

The drive to Dover was in horrendous rainy conditions.  I couldn't believe the amount of traffic heading towards London at such an early hour ... we both agreed that real life sucks!

We had no problems boarding the ferry - it even left port a few minutes ahead of schedule.  This trip cost us £35.00 all up!  The tunnel is just too expensive, plus they charge for the doggies whereas the ferries don't.

The boat was very lightly loaded, I was the only one up on the deck!

It was a pretty calm crossing, with hardly any swell ...

Our first selfie of the trip ...

Getting ready to depart from the bowels of the ship ...

We were very, very lucky when we left Calais as the froggie police and farmers were about to block the port.  We were just about the last car to escape ...

We squeezed through and were away ...

This is what I love about driving on the continent - there is hardly any traffic compared to the UK ...

The doggies assumed their position, on top of the pile in the back ...

Here is the route with the little red arrow being us.  We are using Mr Tom Tom to get us there, with Elaine checking the route on the laptop with the aid of Autoroute ...
Bit blurry - will do a better job next time!

When we got weary we decided to stop for the night at Chartres.

I got flashed by a speed camera earlier today, 76ks in a 70 kph limit so tonight we are spending it in the prison cells ...

At least they let us use the laptop and wifi!

I will resurrect the shorts tomorrow as it is warming up already - 19 degrees today ... musn't grumble!
