Monday's boaters afternoon tea was cancelled in the hut as the marina is open during December, so the emergency contingency plan swung into action ... we went to The Royal Exchange in Stone instead! This was a much better plan in my opinion, drinking by the roaring fire at 14.00 on a Monday...luverly!
We are back in the hut next Monday though as it is the 'official' marina winter residents Christmas do! Management has given us permission ... perhaps they will allow us to have the heater on!
Today we were up early as we decided to go to theFrankfurt Birmingham Christmas Markets.
First things first a pic of the sunrise!!
Before we set off I wandered down our arm to take a pic of what, in my humble opinion, is the best looking boat on the canal system....NB Foxglove.
It is painted in LMS (London Midland Scottish) red, it is a stunning boat.
The rising sun distorted the real colour, it actually looks like.......
.......this - Princess Coronation Class 'The Duchess of Hamilton' in its LMS colours ...

Anyway, off we went to Stafford railway station in the blazing sunshine this morning, mind you it was bloody cold ...
When we got to Brum we took a reflected pic against the shiny Birmingham New Street railway station ...
The markets are very ... Christmassy ...
We had an English breakfast though at Cafe Rouge, as we didn't really fancy an early morning Bratwurst!

Santa was really happy... not ... to pose with the boys, probably because Elaine was groping Santas baubles!

We showed Sammie the little baby Jesus but he only had eyes for the sheep!
The markets are well worth a visit ...
And would be most spectacular at night when they are all lit up ...
... but we left before it got dark. so as to miss the rush hour on the trains.
A very good day out was had by all.
