Yesterday we decided to go back to Bedar, which is a little mountain village about 30 mins inland from us in Mojacar. We went a couple of weeks ago but it was nearly 40 degrees and too hot to do anything so we didn't get chance for a big walkabout.
Yesterday was a much more pleasant 26 degrees, so off we went.
First things first, lunch in a Bedar restaurant with superb views right to the coast ...
The white buildings on the left are Mojacar Pueblo. We are staying at Mojacar Playa which sits below on the coast ...
Bedar really is a lovely little Spanish mountain village ...
It has a history of mining iron ore ...
It is a bit hilly so the old man has to take a few breaks ...
We only met two people whilst walking around the village ...
Elaine's sister and hubby have a friend who has an artist's studio up here, alas we couldn't find it but not for want of trying ...
Not a bad view eh?
We were wondering, could we live in a place like this.....
Then we found it, a lovely little cottage that just needed a lick of paint!
The interior needed a bit of work though ...
So there it is is No 9 Calle De Shithole, the place for us???
Elaine reckons that I would do well renovating a Spanish place ... she calls me Mr Bodgit and says that I would fit in well with the Spanish building standards.
I certainly wouldn't have to worry about elf and safety ...
Wiring is easy, they are all black, then they paint white over the top ...
On the way back we went and checked out an abandoned airfield we had been told about, which was close to Cabrera, where we went the other day ...
Here we are roaring down the main runway ...
It was still in good nick and is still used occasionally for pilot training, they use it for touch and go's ...

The only hassle, and it doesn't really show on the pics, is that the road into the airfield ran along a cliff edge and had badly crumbled away, it was a bit hairy!
Up until recently they used Almeria airport for pilot training touch and go's over the quiet winter period. You would occasionally see the odd 747 at treetop height as it completed its manoeuvre. Not sure what would have happened if anything went wrong - I don't think the runway is long enough for a full landing for one of those. The property offers many opportunities for improvement :-)
