A Long Day

We were up at 05.00 and away by 06.00 up the M6 to Manchester, I usually stay with Elaine whilst she is undergoing her treatment but as I was contaminated with germs thought better of it and drove to Macclesfield to contaminate her dad Bert instead!

I did a few chores in Macc including getting some new fire bricks for the stove, the back brick has fallen apart and even though the boat is sold I don't want to hand it over with anything amiss. I picked Elaine up in the early evening, we got back to the boat totally knackered at 20.00.

Talking of handing over, after we leave the boat on the 17th April I have booked us into a caravan park as close as possible to Manchester. The park is at Higher Poynton right next to the Macclesfield canal!!  We wanted to be close to Manchester as Elaine has now finished the treatment but just needs to go back for a scan then the final chat with the Dr and then we are off to the continent. If all goes well we should be off on or about the first week of May!!!

If the weather stays good we are going to take the boat out Friday for a few days, it will be our final cruise, we hope to meet up with some of the other Aston Marina boaters that have already left.

I wonder if we can get to London and back before the 17th April?
