On To The Fabulous Thames xx

Just watched Chelsea vs Bayern Munich.....Bugger!

So, a late blog...

We were up and at it early again to get off K and A canal - this swing bridge is right after the lock....

....and there is Elaine stopping traffic, aided by Sammie ...

We passed Bridget Jones' garden, they were rather enormous!

We did have a bit of a laugh at this boat trying to get into the lock after we left it ...

All over the place like a mad women's arms and still couldn't get it in the lock ...

Through the turf sided lock ...

Then we shot the rapids through Reading after we got the 'green traffic light' ...

Except it wasn't very rapid, the current was a trickle ...

Nice little terraces in the centre of Reading ...

And finally onto the Thames ... we were two very happy little bunnies!

It's not very often that the boat house is better than....

....the house !

Under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which was actually a temporary bridge for the Reading music festival and was now being dismantled ...

Into a lovely Thames lock with lock keepers and buttons....

....and nothing to do except hang onto the end of a rope!

Locals playing in the river....did I mention it was another glorious sunny day ...

Finally we moored up in the late arvo at Pangbourne meadows ...

There we are half way down  on the right ...

After another long day in the saddle we went for a drink in the dog friendly Greyhound pub at Whitchurch ...

Where a little girl was fascinated by Sammie - and he by her, so they had a good play together ...

We bought an exceptionally yummy takeaway from the local Indian and went back to the boat to watch the aforementioned football match, double bugger!
